Arabic Curriculum..

 

Grade (1)

 

After successful completion of this grade students are expected to gain the following Arabic language skills:

 

Listening..

 

  • Listen to recognize the letters of alphabet.

  • recognize some vocabulary from the surrounding environment.

  • Listen to stories and respond to them.

  • Apply basic rules of conversation, such as listening when others speak.

  • Use appropriate voice: indoor or outdoor. 

 

Speaking..

 

  • Correctly spelling the alphabet letters.

  • Visually identify short vowels.

  • Distinguish the pronunciation effects of short vowels.

  • Distinguish between short and long sounds:

    Fatha, Dammah, Kasrah, Sukoun

    Fathatain, Kasratain, Dammatain

     

 

Reading..

 

  • Identify alphabet formats in the beginning, middle, and end of words.

  • Correct pronunciation of all alphabet with emphasis on similar sounds.

  • Read and comprehend words used in daily life.

  • Read and comprehend sentences with five words.

  • Read and comprehend texts with five sentences.

  • Complete exercises that demonstrate the above abilities.

 

Writing..

 

  • Write the individual letters of the alphabet.

  • Write right-to-left in straight horizontal lines.

  • Write the alphabet in different formats as placed in the word: beginning, middle, & end.

  • Leave one finger [    ] space between words and following punctuation marks.
